Depict : Post Production

20th October

Today we started editing our 90 second depict. We organised all of our footage into the Media B folder so we could easily navigate around when we were editing.

We shot all of the footage according to the storyboard which would make it easier to edit. We placed all of our footage into the timeline in chronological order which gave us a rough idea of how the film would look.

After having all of the footage in this layout we could then record the voice recordings. We had chosen 4 people out of our class to do the voice recordings who we felt suited the character best. Once he has them recorded we imported them into the timeline and synced them over the corresponding video clips.

While me and Adam worked on the edit, Yasmin worked on the screenshots that we were using to put into the film, this was the Guy Ritchie stylized look that we went for.

At the end of the lesson we had a rough look on the timeline of how we wanted the film to look.

21st October

Today we carried on with our edit. After yesterday's lesson we had a really good idea of how the film would look. We continued to look at the storyboard so we had guidance throughout.

We cut all of the video clips into the way we wanted them to look and we already had the audio in place. We needed to have the correct zoom on all of the video clips and this was the toughest part of editing. To avoid confusing the viewer with what snail was talking at each time this zooming process was vital.

We also added the screenshots in which gives a nice effect, these are what Yasmin made.

We felt that the film lacked something so we decided to add some music in. This gave it all a lot more texture.

We finished the lesson with a near complete 90 second film, we have a few minor changes to make tomorrow and then it will be finished.

23rd October

Today we started the lesson with a near finished edit with just a few things to change. One thing we needed to change was some of the audio. At the start of most of the audio clips there was a small microphone rumble from where the start and stop button was pressed on the microphone. This needed to be cut out as the quality was poor before. After these small parts of audio were cut out we then looked at the typography on the freeze frames. We were not happy with the original text as it looked too chunky, we looked for a more clean smart text and we found that and placed it in the freeze frames.
