Research And Planning: Designing An E-Sting

My Idea

My idea is to have a ticking time bomb that needs to be diffused. Someone is on the way to diffuse the bomb and using stop motion animation creating impossible moves. The person diffuses the bomb but then trips on a wire and it explodes throwing tonnes of little e4 logo's everywhere creating one big E4. This is the final shot

The format we propose to use is a stop frame technique with people, we feel this is the best method to suit our idea.

Our narrative is to have a ticking time bomb that needs to be diffused because it is ticking down and close to exploding. We capture the man fretting over the bomb and he is working out to diffuse it as time is short. After a frantic journey to the bomb he gets there and does what he needs to, he diffuses the bomb and then trips on the wire and the bomb explodes. The bomb then explodes and the man looks petrified but when the bomb it explodes it splatters E4 logos everywhere

Our stop motion animation is going to set in college but the setting is going to be a confined simplistic space as we don't want anything that distracts the viewer from the bomb getting diffused and then exploding.

There shouldn't be many limitations that we face when producing our E-Sting but due to the nature of the college surroundings we may face some niggles as it is very busy. We need to have space when we are filming as our set will take up the front of our classroom and this may not be possible at times. As well as this it may be tough to make the front of the classroom look like a suitable bomb site instead of a simple classroom. In terms of finance we should be fine, all of the equipment is covered by the college as they already have it on site and have agreed to letting us use it.

The target audience we will be targeting is teenagers and early twenties. The E-sting we are going to be creating is going to start tense and end with a comedic element. This silly style is going to attract this demographic more than an older one as they are more childish and typically enjoy this kind of comedy. This does not mean that our E-Sting rules out an older audience though as the tense build up and the contrasting end creates a funny narrative that the older viewers of the channel can connect with. This E-Sting does not really aim at anyone with particular tastes but it certainly targets people who enjoy comedic sketches and people who like tense action films. We tried to keep the target audience fairly broad so we could attract a large audience but we have also made it slightly niche to make it unique and applicable to E4.

Main Characters

This is the main character in our animation, acted by Ellis Platten. This is the only character in our stop motion animation and will be responsible for diffusing the bomb and leading the whole story line. This character is a curious, intelligent man with a comforting approach to the rest of the public. Ellis wants to save the world from terrorism and when he finds the bomb is willing to sacrifice his life for the help of others.

  1. You have worked independently to plan a response to a brief to near-professional standards and you have applied the knowledge gained from you research and planning to conceptualise a product which shows creativity and imagination.
